Stevenage - Stevenage is a good sized town found to the north of London within the county of Hertfordshire (Herts) within the Home Counties region, just off the A1 (M), it houses a population of around 85,000 and was chosen to be the very first of the 'New Towns' in the 1940's consisting of six independent communities, the first of which was completed in nineteen fifty one (Monks Wood and Stoney Hall). Having said that despite its apparently new look, Stevenage in reality has an ancient history and is built close to where the Saint Albans (Verulanium) to Baldock road, built by the Romans ran, Stevenage was listed as "Stigenace" in the Domesday Book of 1086.
